Valley of the Moon, landscapes of another planet in La Paz

A landscape from another planet in a big city? This is what we show you only 10 kilometers from the center of the south of La Paz. The valley of the moon is the most surreal natural attraction of the administrative capital of Bolivia. We show you them in the chapter number 100 of Furgo en ruta.

Since we began to travel through South America we have passed through several valleys of the Moon. The one of Bolivia has the particularity that is in a great city. In fact, much of the southern area of La Paz is a great valley of the moon. In recent times, constructions have been gaining ground to the impossible forms that have been formed with erosion.

Luckily, just a few minutes drive from the center, have preserved this area where they have enabled some runways. Through these, we walk through the valley of the Moon to our wide, enjoying this lunar landscape. As if we were in a picture of Dalí, we enjoyed this walk of surrealist lines. A worthwhile experience if you visit the incredible city of La Paz.

Despite the proximity of the big city, we enjoy a particularly relaxing environment. While we wait for a group of tourists to follow their way to make one of the stand up of the video of this chapter, we are surprised by a vizcacha camouflaged among the ocher colors of a precipice. It is a rabbit-like animal. We spent some time observing and filming it, while watching different species of birds pass. As usual, visiting the tourist attractions during the week and out of high season has a reward.

We say goodbye to the Valley of the Moon with music

In a moment, we see a musician playing the quena raised above one of the natural towers. He is dressed in a red poncho. The music is inspiring. And at the same time he inspires me to get my old quena out of the backpack of the instruments. While I am still learning to play it, the notes flow through the valley of the Moon. And they slip between the intricacies of the rock formations of the place, leaving us with the feeling of having been in a very special place, almost mystical.
